  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated pizza dough (like Pillsbury)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 24 small mozzarella pearls or sliced olives (for eyes)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Optional: sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray with baking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 pound ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, 1 large egg, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into 12 equal-sized balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  5. Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough onto a clean, lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 12 long strips, each about 1 inch wide.
