This copycat pumpkin cream cold foam coffee is a quick and easy 5-minute recipe that transforms a plain cup of coffee into a seasonal treat. With a thick, spiced foam that’s creamy and stable, it’s better than the drive-through version and uses simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed coffee (hot or iced)

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee. If making iced coffee, let it cool slightly while you prepare the foam. For hot coffee, brew it directly into your mug.
  2. In a small bowl or the cup of your frother, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and a tiny pinch of salt. Make sure the pumpkin puree is smooth—if lumpy, mash it with a fork first.
  3. Using a milk frother, immersion blender, or mini blender, blend the mixture for about 20-30 seconds until thick and creamy. It should double in volume and look like a soft cloud—not bubbly, but creamy and smooth.
  4. Fill your serving glass with ice (if making iced coffee) and pour the strong brewed coffee over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top. For hot coffee, simply pour the hot coffee into your mug, leaving the same space.
  5. Using a spoon, gently scoop the pumpkin cream foam onto the top of your coffee. Do not stir it in—the beauty is in the layers.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle a tiny pinch of extra pumpkin pie spice or a few flakes of cinnamon on top of the foam.
  7. Serve immediately. The foam will start to settle after about 10 minutes, so enjoy right away.

Notes

Use cold milk and cream for best foam. Do not over-froth or it may turn into butter. For dairy-free, use full-fat oat milk and canned coconut cream. The foam is best enjoyed within 5-10 minutes. You can make the foam mixture ahead and store in the fridge for up to 2 days; re-froth before using.
