Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 large apple (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
  • 1 small pear (Bosc or Bartlett, slightly firm)
  • 3–4 ounces aged cheddar (white cheddar or sharp cheddar)
  • 3–4 ounces brie or camembert
  • 2–3 ounces prosciutto (or soppressata)
  • 1/4 cup dried figs or dates
  • 1/4 cup candied pecans or walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam or honey
  • Small handful of fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional, for garnish)
  • Crackers or sliced baguette (6-8 crackers or 4-5 baguette slices per person)

Instructions

  1. Make the pumpkin dip: In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, 4 ounces softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice to your liking. Transfer to a small serving bowl. (If you want it warm, microwave it for 20-30 seconds before serving.)
  2. Prep the fruit: Core the apple and pear, then slice them into thin wedges—about 8 slices per fruit. Leave the skin on for color and texture. To prevent browning, squeeze a little lemon juice over the slices if making ahead.
  3. Slice the cheese: Cut the aged cheddar into thin triangles or small cubes. For the brie, leave it whole or cut it into wedges. Let the cheeses sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving for the best flavor.
  4. Prepare the meats: If using prosciutto, tear the slices into smaller pieces or leave them whole. Fold them loosely rather than laying them flat.
  5. Arrange the board: Place the bowl of pumpkin dip in the center or slightly off to one side. Start by placing the larger items—cheeses and meats—around the bowl. Then fill in the gaps with apple slices, pear slices, dried figs, and candied pecans. Add the fig jam or honey in a small dish or drizzle it directly over the cheese. Tuck fresh herb sprigs here and there for a pop of green.
  6. Add the crackers: Fan them out on the edges of the board or place them in a small separate bowl.
  7. Serve immediately: This board is best enjoyed right away while the fruit is crisp and the dip is fresh. If prepping ahead, keep the dip and fruit separate until just before serving.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften before mixing the dip for a smooth texture. Cut apple slices into thicker wedges (about 1/4 inch) to prevent drying. Don’t skip the pinch of salt in the dip—it balances the sweetness. The dip can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the fridge. For best flavor, let cheeses sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving. If making ahead, keep dip and fruit separate until just before serving.
