A simple, kid-friendly bento box lunch that takes under 10 minutes to assemble with just five ingredients. Perfect for busy mornings and picky eaters, this no-cook meal prep solution ensures an empty lunchbox every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 slices turkey or ham
  • 1 cheese stick or 1/4 cup cheese cubes
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat crackers or pretzels
  • 1/2 cup fresh fruit (grapes, apple slices, or berries)
  • 23 tablespoons favorite dip or spread (yogurt, hummus, or nut-free butter)

Instructions

  1. Prep the protein: Roll 4-6 slices of turkey or ham into tight logs. Place in one compartment of the bento box.
  2. Prepare the cheese: If using string cheese, peel and cut into bite-sized pieces. Place in a second compartment.
  3. Add the crunch: Fill the largest compartment with about 1/2 cup of whole wheat crackers or pretzels.
  4. Wash and portion the fruit: Rinse grapes or berries and pat dry. For apple slices, toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Place fruit in its own compartment.
  5. Fill the dip container: Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of yogurt, hummus, or nut-free butter into a small dip container. Seal tightly and place in the center or an empty compartment.
  6. Assemble and pack: Arrange everything in the bento box so it looks colorful and inviting. Close the lid, add an ice pack to the lunchbox, and you’re done.

Notes

Keep ingredients separate to prevent sogginess. Prep components ahead of time for busy mornings. Let kids help assemble to encourage eating. Rotate dips to keep lunches interesting. Don’t overfill the box.
