Fall-apart tender chicken wings coated in a glossy, finger-licking sauce that’s equal parts spicy and sweet. The slow cooker does all the work, making these the perfect game day or party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds frozen or fresh chicken wing sections (drumettes and flats)
  • ½ cup buffalo-style hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 45 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for crisping)
  • 2 tablespoons cold water (optional, for crisping)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Wings: If using frozen wings, no need to thaw. If fresh, pat dry with paper towels. Place directly into the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together hot sauce, honey, melted butter, minced garlic, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Adjust honey or hot sauce to taste.
  3. Coat the Wings: Pour sauce evenly over wings in the crockpot. Use tongs to toss and coat every wing.
  4. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 5-6 hours or on High for 3-4 hours. Stir halfway through cooking.
  5. Optional Crisping: Preheat oven broiler. Transfer wings to a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Reserve sauce in crockpot. Whisk cornstarch and cold water together, then stir into reserved sauce to thicken. Brush or drizzle thickened sauce over wings. Broil 3-5 minutes until bubbly and slightly charred.
  6. Final Glaze & Serve: Remove from oven. Brush with another layer of thickened sauce. Transfer to platter, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

For best texture, don’t skip the broiling step to get crispy skin. Pat fresh wings dry to help sauce adhere. Low and slow cooking yields the most tender meat. The cornstarch slurry thickens the sauce into a glossy glaze.
