A visually fun and refreshing summer snack featuring crisp watermelon wedges arranged like a flag with blueberries and strawberries, paired with a creamy, tangy fruit dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium-sized seedless watermelon (about 56 lbs), cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries, washed and dried
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced or halved if small
  • ½ cup fresh raspberries (optional)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Rinse the watermelon under cool water and pat dry. Slice into 1-inch thick rounds, then cut each round into rectangles about 3 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Leave rind on some pieces for stability and set aside on serving board.
  2. Rinse blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries gently under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels. Hull and slice strawberries if needed.
  3. Arrange watermelon rectangles in neat rows on the serving platter to create the flag stripes, leaving a small square section in the top-left corner empty for the blue field.
  4. Fill the top-left corner with fresh blueberries, packing tightly to resemble the stars section of the flag.
  5. Scatter sliced strawberries alongside or between watermelon stripes for red accents. Optionally add raspberries for extra color.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth. Add Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix on medium speed until fully combined and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Adjust honey to taste.
  7. Transfer the creamy fruit dip to a small bowl and place alongside the watermelon flag board. Garnish dip with extra lemon zest or finely chopped mint if desired. Keep dip chilled until serving.

Notes

Use a firm, ripe seedless watermelon for best texture. Dry berries thoroughly to avoid sogginess. Soften cream cheese to avoid lumps in dip. Assemble close to serving time to keep fruit fresh. Dip can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored in fridge. Store leftover dip in airtight container for up to 3 days; watermelon best eaten same day or within 24 hours refrigerated.
