These spooky yet delicious deviled eggs are perfect for Halloween parties. They feature a creamy, tangy filling made with simple pantry staples and are decorated with black sesame seeds for a festive, ghostly or monster-like appearance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 2 tablespoons full-fat mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (plus more for dusting)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Black sesame seeds (for decoration)
  • Chives or green onions, finely chopped (optional, for accents)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by an inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  2. Transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water and cool for at least 10 minutes. Peel the eggs under running water and pat dry.
  3. Slice each egg lengthwise and scoop out the yolks into a medium bowl, keeping the whites intact.
  4. Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  5. Transfer the filling to a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off.
  6. Pipe the filling back into the egg white halves.
  7. Decorate with black sesame seeds to create eyes, mouths, or other Halloween shapes. Dust with paprika if desired.

Notes

Store filling and whites separately until serving to prevent sogginess. Hard-boiled eggs can be prepped up to 2 days in advance. Do not freeze. For a vegan version, use vegan eggs and mayonnaise.
