These spooky yet delicious mummy pigs in a blanket are a perfect Halloween party snack. Made with crescent roll dough, hot dogs, and a seasoned cream cheese filling, they are easy to make, crowd-pleasing, and fun for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1–2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Butter, melted (for brushing)
  • Standard beef, pork, or turkey hot dogs (cut into thirds or halves)
  • Full-fat block cream cheese, softened
  • Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Black olives, sliced (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and press seams together. Cut into strips approximately 1 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.
  4. Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over each piece of hot dog.
  5. Wrap a strip of dough around the hot dog, leaving small gaps for the eyes.
  6. Place two small slices of black olive on the top of the wrapped hot dog to create eyes, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Place mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving an inch of space between each.
  8. Brush tops lightly with melted butter.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and puffy.
  10. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent tearing. If using larger hot dogs, cut into thirds for bite-sized portions. Ensure hot dogs are dry before wrapping to help the dough stick. For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the cream cheese. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen unbaked.
