A quick and easy patriotic dessert featuring vibrant layers of cream cheese, fresh berries, and whipped cream, perfect for Fourth of July celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional garnish)
  • Edible star-shaped sprinkles (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red berry layer: In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 10 minutes to macerate.
  2. Make the blue berry layer: In another bowl, toss blueberries with sugar (if using). Set aside.
  3. Whip the cheesecake layer: Using an electric mixer, beat softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy (about 2-3 minutes). Add lemon juice and mix briefly.
  4. Whip the heavy cream: In a cold bowl, beat 1/2 cup heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold this whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, keeping it light and fluffy.
  5. Whip the white layer: In a clean bowl, whip the remaining 1 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  6. Assemble the parfaits: Spoon a layer of the red berry mixture into the bottom of each glass (about 2 tablespoons). Follow with a layer of the cheesecake cream (about 3 tablespoons), smoothing gently with a spoon.
  7. Add a layer of whipped cream (approximately 2 tablespoons), then a layer of blueberries (2 tablespoons). Repeat layering if your glass is tall enough, ending with a final dollop of whipped cream on top.
  8. Chill: Refrigerate parfaits for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld and layers set nicely.
  9. Garnish and serve: Just before serving, add a few whole berries and a sprig of fresh mint or edible stars for a festive look.

Notes

Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before mixing for smooth texture. Chill bowl and beaters before whipping cream for best results. Fold whipped cream gently into cream cheese mixture to keep it light and fluffy. Chill parfaits for at least 1 hour to set layers and enhance flavor. Optional to add crunchy graham cracker crumble between layers for texture contrast. Frozen berries can be used if fresh are unavailable; thaw and drain excess liquid before use.
