A theatrical Halloween punch featuring bright orange vodka, fresh citrus juices, and dry ice for a spooky fog effect. This easy-to-make batch drink is a crowd-pleaser that balances sweet and tart flavors with a smooth finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 ounces fresh-squeezed orange juice (pulp-free)
  • Orange vodka (e.g., Skyy Infusions or Absolut Citron)
  • 2 cups Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from 4–5 limes)
  • 2 liters Ginger Ale or Club Soda
  • 2–3 pounds dry ice blocks
  • Large bowl of regular ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Juice the limes to yield approximately 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice.
  2. In a large punch bowl, combine the orange juice, orange vodka, and triple sec. Stir well to blend.
  3. Pour in the fresh lime juice and stir again. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if necessary.
  4. Just before serving, add the ginger ale or club soda and stir gently to preserve carbonation.
  5. Fill the bowl with regular ice cubes, placing them around the edges first, then filling the middle.
  6. Using tongs or thick gloves, break dry ice into baseball-sized chunks.
  7. Carefully drop the dry ice chunks into the punch bowl. Use tongs to push them to the bottom to sublimate slowly.
  8. Ensure no large chunks of dry ice are floating on the surface where guests might touch them. Add more dry ice as needed to maintain the fog effect.

Notes

Never touch dry ice directly with bare hands; use tongs or thick gloves to avoid frostbite. Do not eat the dry ice. If using a metal bowl, ensure it is thick enough to handle thermal shock, as extreme cold can make some metals brittle. Leave at least two inches of headspace in the bowl to prevent overflow from gas expansion. Serve in small glasses as the drink is potent.
