A festive and easy-to-make Halloween charcuterie board featuring hand-carved brie cheese ghosts, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small wheel of Brie cheese (8–10 oz), rind on, chilled
  • Black olives (sliced or whole) for eyes
  • Fresh chives (cut into tiny pieces) for mouths
  • Assorted crackers (water crackers, wheat thins, pretzel crisps)
  • Salami or ham (folded or rolled)
  • Dried fruit (apricots, figs, or cranberries)
  • Fresh fruit (grapes, apple slices, or pear slices)
  • Nuts (walnuts or almonds)
  • Honey or fig jam for dipping

Instructions

  1. Chill the brie cheese in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to ensure it is firm.
  2. Arrange assorted crackers in clusters around the edges of a large platter or wooden board.
  3. Fold salami or ham into rosettes and place them in gaps between crackers.
  4. Add dried fruit, fresh fruit, and nuts in small piles or scattered over empty spaces.
  5. Using a sharp knife, cut a wedge from the chilled brie wheel.
  6. Slice off a thin, curved piece of brie to resemble a ghost’s body (wider at top, tapering down).
  7. Press two small slices of black olive into the top of the cheese ghost to form eyes.
  8. Add a small strip of chive or a drop of balsamic glaze for a mouth if desired.
  9. Arrange the cheese ghosts on the board, standing them up or laying them flat to look like they are floating.
  10. Add a small bowl of honey or jam in the center and garnish with fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary.

Notes

Keep the cheese cold and firm for easier cutting. Wipe the knife between cuts to keep edges clean. Serve at room temperature for best flavor. Can be prepped up to 2 hours ahead.
